Behavior and aggression Board & Train
(3 weeks) – $3850 (4 weeks) – $4550
  • This program covers the same Obedience level as our 3-week Intermediate level but with an added focus on Dog/Human reactivity, Aggression, and resource guarding. These are all of our behaviors that typically need to be counter-conditioned versus a punishment-based approach!
  • Aggression could be traced back to a past life of trauma or abuse before adoption. If something like this happened early on in the dog’s life, it could have had a substantial and negative impact on the dog’s growth. Another common component is fear, which may result from a traumatic childhood or a life without any type of pack leader. Aggression could have grown as a result of simple bad habits or not enough discipline throughout their adolescence. Needless to say, canine aggression can manifest itself in a variety of ways – some more extreme than others. It can be quite dangerous for the dog, the owner, and anyone who may come into contact with your dog.
  • Includes 2.0 hour “go-home” lesson as well as two follow-up sessions in-home or at Unleashed K9 for training reinforcement.
  • The following types of aggression can be addressed and overcome with our Behavior-aggressive dog training program at Unleashed K9 of Minnesota:
    • Aggression towards humans, dogs, and other animals
    • Food/resource guarding
    • Territorial behavior
    • Fear
    • Leash
    • And more…
“Weekends off” Board and Train
(2 weeks) – $2250 (3 weeks) – $3250 (4 weeks) – $4150
  • This program is for clients who want their dogs trained during the work week but can return home on the weekends! This program covers the same obedience level as our 3 and 4-week programs, but lets the dog return home on the weekends. This is so that your dog gets to enjoy family time, and allows you to start working on the training at home.
  • A quick go-home session on Fridays to catch you up to speed with your dog’s current progress and how to reinforce what he/she has learned up to that point.
  • Training days are M-F (8 am-5 pm) WE DO NOT RECOMMEND DOGS WITH SEVERE SEPARATION ANXIETY for this program!
  • Includes 2.0-hour “go-home” lesson as well as two follow-up sessions in-home or at Unleashed K9 for training reinforcement.
Tracking/Trailing Board & Train program
(2 weeks) – $2950
  • Allow us to spend two weeks with your dog, teaching them everything they need to know about tracking/trailing humans or animals.
  • All dogs can track. It’s in their DNA. They just don’t know how to do it exactly the way we want when we want them to. That’s where Hydration Intensified Tracking Training (HITT) comes in. This was developed to help urban police K9 handlers meet the demands of their ever more challenging tracking environments. HITT has been successfully applied in AKC, Schutzhund, SAR, and recreational tracking.
  • This course covers both hard surface and soft surface tracking with our lead trainer Kenneth who has mastered the art of tracking throughout his career.
  •  Includes a 2.0-hour “go-home” lesson as well as two follow-up sessions at Unleashed K9 for training reinforcement.
Detection/Nosework-BSD Board & Train program
(2 weeks) – $3500
  • This program training services for (but is not limited to) Peanut Oil Detection, Bedbug Detection, Narcotics Detection, Explosive Detection, and Cell Phone Detection. In detection training, dogs learn how to search for a specific odor or odors and find the source. Dogs start by searching for their favorite food or toy reward hidden in a variety of environments. Then, increasing the challenges and adding new search skills as the dog progresses.
  • We front-load the hunting process with detection to help build drive and stamina for odor searches. We want to teach the dog to be independent from receiving assistance from the handler. We prefer to use tap and hides when dealing with detection but not all dogs take to this method. We can always adjust our approach with different methods to start the dog off.
  • Once your dog is at the right stage in detection we will teach a final response for odor recognition using the Behavior Shaping Devices. When the dog is ready we will move to environmental with detection. This process is the final stage of teaching a dog odor recognition in a variety of environments like dark rooms, cars, etc.
  • Includes a 2.0-hour “go-home” lesson as well as two follow-up sessions at Unleashed K9 for training reinforcement.
Service Dog Certification Board & Train
(4 weeks) – $4150 (6 weeks) -$6250 ( 8 weeks) – $8250
  • Service dogs increase freedom and independence by assisting in everyday life. They can improve the lives of people with a wide range of disabilities, whether physical, neurological, or psychiatric. We train service dogs to mitigate symptoms of many disabilities such as autism, anxiety disorders, depression, diabetes, epilepsy, hearing impairment, multiple sclerosis (MS), narcolepsy, post-traumatic stress (PTS or PTSD), severe allergies, spinal cord injuries, and traumatic brain injuries (TBI). We also often customize tasks for a specific client’s needs.
  • The length of stay for each dog is different depending on which tasks the dogs need to be trained. An evaluation with Kenneth is needed to determine if your dog is fit for our program and able to perform the tasked at hand.
  • All dogs that complete our program come with federal registration papers, TDOT papers for travel on airlines or public transportation, and a letter of training recognition.
  •  Includes 2.0-hour “go-home” lesson as well as two follow-up sessions in-home or at Unleashed K9 for training reinforcement.
E-Collar Training
(1 week) – $1250 “Includes price of e.collar”
  • We are a licensed E-Collar Technologies dealer and trainer. With over 12 years of experience training with e-collars, Kenneth has mastered the correct use of the collar as a behavioral reinforcer.
  • E-collar conditioning and training is implemented after basic obedience and can be incorporated into other programs and packages for an additional fee.
  • E-collar training is a one week program either as a stand alone after basic obedience is completed or can be added onto the Basic Board and Train

We have used low level stimulation to help dogs overcome leash reactivity using Remote Collar Training. We have found with dogs that are reactive on leash respond to more subtle communication to gain their attention and focus back on the handler. It shows them we have control of the situation so they don’t need to be concerned. At times leash pressure can add to the excitement or frustration the dog feels when in a reactive state of mind. The remote collar is a useful tool to add less pressure to the dog to communicate to the dog and not add additional frustration.

Another example of use for Remote Collar Training is when a dog may be outside in his or her fenced in yard, comes running and slams into the back door to tell their humans they are ready to come inside. That behavior can not only be dangerous to the dog as it could hurt the dog, but also can do damage to your door. After we teach the dog what the collar means with low levels of stimulation, we can begin teaching the dog by communicating with the collar to resolve behaviors like this.

***Important Things To Know***

  • We do NOT shock dogs. •We use units that are stimulation like that of TENS units used by physical therapists to stimulate blood flow to the muscle.
  • We use units that have settings that allow for very subtle increases in stimulation level.
  • We use low level stimulation and vibrate to condition the dog to understand pressure on and off as if it were a tap on the shoulder to say “pay attention to me (the handler).”
  • We do NOT just increase stimulation levels because the dog is being “stubborn.” We work with the dog to determine where the breakdown in communication is.

I needed to have my 6 year old German Shepherd trained to be able to fly commercially with me. Kenneth, the owner, met with me and my dog and said he could definitely train her. He’s a man of his word and did a fantastic job with her. I’m very happy I selected him, and I feel 100% confident that she’ll be awesome in the airport, going through security and flying.

Kenneth, Emily and team are incredibly knowledgeable and effective in their training. Our German Shepherd went into training as anxious, reactive and hard for me to handle – and came back calmer, more confident, and less reactive. I can walk her without pulling and we can pass dogs without her lunging. Kenneth also gave us guidance on struggles we were having with our other dog. Kenneth was great with communicating and sharing updates along the way. We are still working on some things, but good progress has been made thanks to Unleashed K9. I recommend Unleashed K9 if you’re looking for training of any kind!

I can’t express enough how wonderful our experience with unleashed k9’s was. They love all the dogs they train and It shows how much they love what they do. Kennith went above and beyond for our family. Our youngest daughter is autistic and we decided to get a puppy for her and have her trained to be a support dog. We couldn’t have been more pleased with how well of a job he did. Our dog is almost a year now and has continued progressing in her training. We can bring her with us anywhere we go and she is so well behaved. She is so comforting for my daughter and is the perfect little missing piece to our family.

Awesome trainer! I needed my German Shepherd trained for service work. They really did a great job with training him. They were ready to answer questions anytime I asked. They sent videos of his sessions so I could see his improvements. I would definitely recommend.
