Socialization Training For Dogs
Our Alumni Training includes bi weekly pack walks where we will go to parks, shopping centers, downtown, neighborhoods, etc. This is a great opportunity to socialize your dog(s) without any meet and greets with other dogs. This event is strictly for dog neutrality and to coexist with other people and dogs while walking.

Why Socialization matters
Socialization isn’t just about teaching your dog to play well with others; it’s a crucial aspect of their overall well-being and development. Proper socialization helps prevent fear, anxiety, and aggression in your pup. It also promotes mental stimulation and emotional resilience. Whether you have a playful puppy or a shy adult dog, our socialization training provides the foundation for a happy, well-adjusted pet.

How long will it take for my puppy to be socialized?
Socializing your puppy is an ongoing process, but the most critical window for socialization is between 3 and 14 weeks of age. During this period, puppies are especially open to new experiences and are more likely to form positive associations with unfamiliar people, animals, and environments. These first 3 to 4 months are important to start exposing your puppy to different stimuli, such as people, other dogs, sounds, and new environments, as soon as they are safely vaccinated. This is the most impressionable time, and early socialization during this phase can set the tone for the rest of their life.
The next 4 to 6 months, you may notice your puppy entering a more cautious phase, sometimes referred to as a “fear period.” This is when we continue socializing but are patient if they show fear in new situations. This phase is focused on positive, gentle exposure.
Socializing your puppy is crucial for their development and long-term behavior. Here’s why it’s important:
-
Reduces fear and anxiety: Socializing helps puppies become comfortable with new people, animals, environments, and experiences. Without it, they may become fearful or anxious in unfamiliar situations.
-
Prevents aggression: A well-socialized puppy is less likely to display aggressive behavior. Exposure to different environments and animals teaches them appropriate ways to interact.
-
Promotes confidence: Socializing helps puppies gain confidence in handling new and potentially overwhelming experiences, making them more adaptable as they grow.
-
Improves Behavior: Puppies that are socialized early are more likely to be calm, well-behaved, and obedient, as they learn how to respond to various stimuli without overreacting.
-
Strengthens Bond with Owners: As puppies learn to trust new environments, they often look to their owners for guidance, strengthening the bond between dog and owner.

Testimonials
Definitely happy with the training my dog got here. Good backyard for the dogs to play in too and gets to socialize with other dogs as well which I really appreciated!
We took our 9 month old Golden Retriever to Unleashed K9 for obedience training, socialization and aggression issue. We had the absolute best experience! Kenneth was good about updating us on our pup while he was away and sent several videos to show his progress. We brought our Ranger home a couple days ago and can already see a big difference in his behavior and we are so jazzed. Kenneth has a way with dogs and truly cares about them. We felt like our Ranger was in good hands the whole time he was gone!
